Pivotal Health is separate from your naturopathic medical care and isn't billed to health insurance. Pivotal Health therapies are self-pay and booked by calling the office, not through the online calendar.

Why Pivotal Health exists

Pivotal Health was founded and organized by Dr. Carolyn Graham, ND, RN (Naturopathic doctor; founder of Pivotal Health), to offer specialized, non-invasive therapies at our office.

Drawing on her many years in health care and her background in naturopathic, functional and environmental medicine, Dr. Graham chose each one to offer alongside care that's fitted to each person.

Each therapy works differently. Below is what each one is and what a session involves.

The four therapies

PEMF therapy

Our SANZA PEMF system

PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. Controlled pulses of electromagnetic energy pass through the body, with no needles or incisions.

Not all PEMF systems are the same. They differ in the strength of the magnetic field, the frequencies, the waveform, how it’s delivered, and whether they treat the whole body or one area. With our SANZA system, the treatment program is chosen for you and the purpose of the session. It’s comfortable, needs no physical effort, and you simply relax.

Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy (mHBOT)

Relaxing in a pressurized chamber

You relax inside a specially designed chamber in which the air pressure is gently increased. The higher pressure lets oxygen dissolve more readily into the body’s fluids and increases the oxygen available to tissues.

Hyperbaric therapy isn’t right for everyone, so you’re screened for reasons you shouldn’t have it before you begin.

Infrared sauna

Our Sunlighten infrared sauna

An infrared sauna uses infrared energy to warm the body more directly than a traditional sauna, which mainly heats the air around you. As your body warms, circulation increases and you sweat.

It is also an optional add-on to our Metabolic Detox Program.

Heat isn’t right for everyone. If you have certain medical conditions or trouble regulating your blood pressure, talk with your health care provider before using a sauna.

Whole-body vibration

Our VBX Wellness 4000 platform

You stand or do simple movements on a platform that makes rapid vibrations. The vibrations cause repeated muscle contractions throughout the body, so several muscle groups work without the impact or effort of much conventional exercise.

Sessions are adjusted to your physical condition and ability.

How it fits with your medical care

Pivotal Health is a separate self-pay wellness business located inside Naturopathic Health Center. Its services are separate from the naturopathic medical services of Naturopathic Health Center, and they are not billed to health insurance.

If you are a patient, your naturopathic doctor can tell you whether one of these therapies makes sense alongside your care.

These therapies don't replace medical evaluation or treatment.

How the four therapies differ

The therapies at Pivotal Health don't all do the same thing.

PEMF uses pulsed electromagnetic fields.

Mild hyperbaric oxygen raises the air pressure around you so more oxygen dissolves in the body's fluids.

Infrared sauna warms the body with infrared energy, and you sweat.

Whole-body vibration makes your muscles contract through rapid vibration while you stand or move on the platform.

One therapy may suit one person, while another person may do better with a different one.

The goal isn't to use more therapies. It's to choose the one that makes sense for you.

What to expect in our office

We want you to feel comfortable knowing what to expect. Our staff will explain the therapy, answer your questions and help you understand what happens during your session.
